Caring A Little Less Every Day

about: hit to the pocketbook

My mom is the greatest negotiator on the face of the planet. She can squeeze crap out of people that not even the IRS could get. She got me down to $500 from $638. Still one hell of a sum, but better for me in the long run.

See, about a week ago, I was heading to work. Jake was following me there and I was behind a 1987 Mercury station wagon. This guy started to turn left out of Jake's subdivision, but decided against it halfway through. I thought he had gone, so I went, and three seconds later there was a 1987 Mercury back windshield on the street, shattered into little tiny glass pebbles.

I wanted to turn it in to the insurance company, but both my parents and our agent advised against that. So now I'm coughing up the $500 to get this guy a new one. There goes the birthday cash. And three months of work.

What'd you do?
