about: coast guard returns
"Can I have fifty cents, Mom?"
"No you cannot have fifty cents."
"Why not?"
"I don't have fifty cents. I spent all my money on groceries."
Spent all your money on groceries my ass. If I had a dollar everytime I've heard that load of crap. Let me tell you something sport, your mother always had money. What a feat that would be, to foresee and bring exactly the amount needed for food and not a penny more. Mom's not that good, junior, wise up.
Sorry, I was thinking about that at work today. How that line works on all kids. Kids never question Mom spending all her money on groceries. It makes sense to them, no point in arguing.
Speaking of kids in grocery stores, what's up with little babies grabbing everything? If it's in sight, man they'll grab it. Most of the time they grab it and hand it to you, but you can't help but worry about that one kid that's gonna pick up a yogurt container and drop it on the floor. Ugh, cleaning that up is no fun. Believe you me.
The U.S. Coast Guard came in today. Hadn't seen them around in a while. Luckily, I left before they finished, but I did spend the last half hour of my shift unloading their carts (yes, plural, they had five full and were only about halfway done) and boxing up the food. Both Keith and I did that, and we were the only two baggers there. Luckily John and Derek showed up to relieve the workload for the other checkers. I like helping the Coast Guard. Plus, Kim and Emily (checkers/managers) were also helping and they are two of the funniest people working there. And, apparently, two of the most "verbose". Some funny times today.
And the pouring rain kept nobody away. Go figure.
I bought yet another CD today. I bought 30 Seconds To Mars' self-titled album. It's really, really good. Very "experimental". Kinda like Incubus, but harder and more sci-fi, spacey sounding. I'm really enjoying it.
I think I ripped my pants,
Drew
P.S. Writing entries early in the morning messes me up. This is actually my third entry of the day. That's just nuts.
